Youthprise, in partnership with Cultural Wellness Center, the African American Leadership Forum and various community stakeholders, are convening a Black History Month Celebration to challenge misperceptions of youth. The series of events, slated for February 21-23, 2012 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, will highlight the potential of youth to be assets in the community toward effecting social change. You can download a full program here.
The events will feature Dr. Dorothy Cotton, a member of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s inner circle, former education director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and a long-time advocate for youth empowerment. Through presentations at various scheduled events, Dr. Cotton will use her signature blend of artistry, wit, candor, and wisdom to communicate the importance of mobilizing youth to transform society and systems.
